“A person who kills or ’snipes’ a joke that was previously funny, usually by adding their own comments that make no sense.”
Everybody has to know someone like this. It’s even worse when someone tries to do it when you’re talking about an inside joke.
“You know who’s not a nice person? Dwayne Wade. He’s totally killing my fantasy basketball squad.”
The quip works, and I get the intended laugh because me and the other person are in fierce competition.. It wasn’t even meant to slay…just one of those things you say to get a chuckle. But then Joke Sniper comes in on the action…..
“You know who’s not a nice person? Ron Arquette.” – Joke Sniper
“Who?”
“Ron Arquette. The basketball player. Heh heh.” – JS
“Oh…Ron Artest..”
“You know who’s not a nice person? Mike Vick…..because…you know…of the dogs.”
Don’t be a joke sniper.
